Love Conquers

The topic of love conquering all sometimes, to me, sounds too cute, as if all I have to do is put asside the anger I feel towards injustice and ‘just feel love’.

I don’t know about you, but ‘just feeling love’ like that doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t even work for my husband, who’s way nicer than I am.

What does work for me is empathy, understanding why a person might do something that is unjustified, including myself. Then, what works for me is doing what I can on my part to rectify. If I added to the injustice, I do something to make it just; if I blinded myself to the injustice, I remove my blinders; if I naively walked into the middle of the injustice, I learn from it so that I can grow.

Then, and only then – for me – can love begin to take over inside me.
